Description

20H-Versailles.avi
20H-Versailles.srt
20H-Versailles.doc
20H-Versailles.mp3
20H-VersaillesMe.mp3
Eight o'clock is the traditional time for French TV news, and on France 2 it is hosted by David Pujadas. Here is a piece about the rarely seen rooms of the Palace of Versailles
14juillet.avi
14juillet.srt
14juillet.doc
14juillet.mp3

There's a lovely moment in this where the military commentator says that this year the President will not be waving to the crowd, because it's not the done thing. Oh you think so....?

20HLaLune.avi
20HLaLune.srt

20HLaLune.doc
20HLaLune.mp3
20HLaLuneMe.mp3

Apart from the content of this interview, I found the voice of Madame Haigneré fascinating. Clear, but slightly accented, and with the fluidity of spoken French which tests the ear.

20HFeuMarseille.avi
20HFeuMarseille.srt

20HFeuMarseille.doc
20HFeuMarseille.mp3
20HFeuMarseilleMe.mp3

After warning holiday makers about the dangers of dropping cigarette ends in dry forest areas, lo and behold the, army decides to fire tracer bullets into the brush.

20HBronzage.avi
20HBronzage.srt
20HBronzage.mp3
20HBronzage.doc
France 2's evening news and a piece on the dangers of tanning cabins
20HBatteries.avi
20HBatteries.srt
20HBatteries.mp3
20HBatteries.doc
You can tell the President's gone off on holiday with Carla. Here's a journalist reduced to sitting on the tarmac watching a little robot pedal round Le Mans. Come back, Nicolas, all is forgiven...
20HVacances.avi
20HVacances.srt
20HVacances.doc
20HVacances.mp3
I always think the technical standard of these little news films is very high. An amusing voice over and the voices of the holiday makers to test the ear
20HeuresTKennedy.avi
20HeuresTKennedy.srt
20HeuresTKennedy.doc
20HeuresTKennedy.mp3
The French documentary tends to become a film d'auteur and so does the main news item. No harm in that
20H-LesAnciens.avi
20H-LesAnciens.srt
20H-LesAnciens.doc
20H-LesAnciens.mp3
The dossiers of France 2 evening news are often beautifully written little editorials on a subject of public interest
20HeuresForesti.avi
20HeuresForesti.srt
20HeuresForesti.doc
20HeuresForesti.mp3
Foresti uses a fast, relaxed manner of speech. Very modern, very trendy - and exactly what our ears have to get used to !
20HeuresParis.avi
20HeuresParis.srt
20HeuresParis.doc
20HeuresParis.mp3

You always get an interview which adds a little listening difficulty to the measured voices of the linkman and the voice over. This lady says 'Cascade du Bois de Boulogne' doesn't she ?

20HGauchers.avi
20HGauchers.srt
20HGauchers.doc
20HGauchers.mp3

Don't worry about the children's voices - always the most difficult to pick up. However, note the voices of the teachers - distinctly more difficult than the voice-over

20HRetouchesPrepa.avi
20HRetouchesPrepa.srt
20HRetouchesPrepa.doc
20HRetouchesPrepa.mp3

This is mostly Level-1. However, there are a few difficult passages. Can you find the places where I've cheated a little on the subtitles ?

JeanSarkozy.avi
JeanSarkozy.srt
JeanSarkozy.doc
JeanSarkozy.mp3

It's not the political element that made me record this, but the fact that Jean Sarkozy's voice and manner are such a carbon copy of his father's. And then, there is the carefully rehearsed delivery.

20HPACSadultere.avi
20HPACSadultere.srt
20HPACSadultere.doc
20HPACSadultere.mp3

When I prepare subtitles, I don't leave 'holes' as I do on the sonsenfrancais transcriptions. However, there are places in this extract where my ear fails. Look out for them, and see if you can correct my version !

20HGrandeCasse.avi
20HGrandeCasse.srt
20HGrandeCasse.doc
20HGrandeCasse.mp3

This is longer than most news items - over 5 minutes. One or two 'voices in the street' but mostly Level-1

20HRobotisation.avi
20HRobotisation.srt
20HRobotisation.doc
20HRobotisation.mp3

A useful extract with a quite trendy voice over, and plenty of vox pop in the street. Level-2

20HRendezlArgent.avi
20HRendezlArgent.srt
20HRendezlArgent.doc
20HRendezlArgent.mp3

Plenty of vox pop here to add spice to a Level-1 voice over

20HFessée.avi
20HFessée.srt
20HFessée.doc
20HFessée.mp3

There are a few awkward moments in this that make it a good Level-2. The beginning of the voice-over is particularly difficult.

20HMainDeDieu.avi
20HMainDeDieu.srt
20HMainDeDieu.doc
20HMainDeDieu.mp3

This is a level-1 - except for the referee at the end who has something to say and is determined to cram it all into the time available !

20HTreiber.avi
20HTreiber.srt
20HTreiber.doc
20HTreiber.mp3

This is a long clip with different voices. But mostly Level-1

20HSidaction.avi
20HSidaction.srt
20HSidaction.doc
20HSidaction.mp3

Setting the controversy aside, I wanted to include this for the informal - but relatively clear - contribution of Thierry Lhermitte. It's the style of everyday French. Level-1

13HCadreNoir.avi
13HCadreNoir.srt
13HCadreNoir.doc
13HCadreNoir.mp3

A Level-1 piece, and notice that because of the excellent sound recording, even the voices in the training ring are relatively clear.

20HInondation.avi
20HInondation.srt
20HInondation.doc
20HInondation.mp3
France 2's dossiers are beautifully filmed and always well-written. A Level-1 piece which is also a little lesson in formal French
