CommentVisages.avi
CommentVisages.srt
CommentVisages.doc
CommentVisages.mp3

No problems here. The diction of the French voice-over is very clear
VoyageUnivers.avi
VoyageUnivers.srt
VoyageUnivers.doc
VoyageUnivers.mp3

Another Level-1. Turn the subtitles off !
Télématin.avi
Télématin.srt
Télématin.doc
Télématin.mp3
There are a few places where a word or two escapes, but the real challenge here is to decipher place names, and names of people

Carla.avi
Carla.srt
Carla.doc
Carla.mp3

I like to start a new month with a level-1, although Carla's voice, although educated and precise, occasionally dips below the threshold of straightforward comprehension
CommentSaladiers.avi
CommentSaladiers.srt
CommentSaladiers.doc
CommentSaladiers.mp3
Apart from the vocabulary this is one of the easier ones - a level-1. However there are a few places which made me ponder. When he speaks of the defects in the wood, I thought that it had to be noeud but I heard a d  at the beginning. What do you think ?

SardouQuestion.avi
SardouQuestion.srt
SardouQuestion.doc
SardouQuestion.mp3
Notice what a difference it makes when the microphone is close to the mouth in a studio setting. Even though it is unscripted and Sardou speaks very informally, it is still a level-1 I think

SiècleSport.avi
SiècleSport.srt
SiècleSport.doc
SiècleSport.mp3

I'm following my habit of starting a new month with a Level-1 extract. It's very subjective of course, but here we have a reasonably-paced voice-over with very little in the way of unusual vocabulary
DRAParis.avi
DRAParis.srt
DRAParis.doc
DRAParis.mp3

We'll call this a level-1 because of the voice-over, but in fact when the senior fireman speaks, it can be quite difficult to follow. One understands the context, of course.
PierrePerret.avi
PierrePerret.srt
PierrePerret.doc
PierrePerret.mp3

It's a level-1, because Perret takes care to ensure that we pick up the words. Having said that, the last verse confused me, so please tell me if you think I went wrong. At the end he says, instead of wearing the veil
Allez-vous-en mettez les voiles We would say 'Take wing...'
CommentPompe.avi
CommentPompe.srt
CommentPompe.doc
CommentPompe.mp3

I think we'll call this a level-1. The vocabulary is not very specialised - just the occasional word - and the voice is clear. Pity about that horrible music though...
QuebecLibre.avi
QuebecLibre.srt
QuebecLibre.doc
QuebecLibre.mp3

I would say that this extract defines the entry level for this site. It is a level-1, the voice-over is particularly clear. I was amused by the Canadian President Lester Pearson, whose French diction is so poor that they provided subtitles in French !

FrançoisRollin.avi
FrançoisRollin.srt
FrançoisRollin.doc
FrançoisRollin.mp3

His diction is crystal clear, (unlike his thought process), and the French is very formal. I think we'll call this level-1

E=M6 Mémoire.avi
E=M6 Mémoire.srt
E=M6 Mémoire.doc
E=M6 Mémoire.mp3

This is a good example of a gentle level-1 which suddenly gets difficult. The young husband interviewed on the subject of his marriage will gain no prizes for good diction, I fear.
ElisabethAgeD'Or.avi
ElisabethAgeD'Or.srt
ElisabethAgeD'Or.doc
ElisabethAgeD'Or.mp3

Historical dramas always give the ear a chance, and this is very formal English. I think we'll call it level-1 - albeit at the top of that range.
LeLauréat.avi
LeLauréat.srt
LeLauréat.doc
LeLauréat.mp3

I'm going to call this level-1. Like the clip above, it is fairly easy to follow as films go. Let's be aware though, that this is rather harder than the typical voice-over of a documentary
Island.avi
Island.srt
Island.doc
Island.mp3
The sedate pace and clear sound of this scene between the psychologist and the hero makes it a Level-1
Mitterrand.avi
Mitterrand.srt
Mitterrand.doc
Mitterrand.mp3
Educated, moderately paced voices. A good Level-1
MichelCerdan.avi
MichelCerdan.srt
MichelCerdan.doc
MichelCerdan.mp3
No problem following this - Level-1. I love this transatlantic French accent the dubbing actors adopt when speaking of American subjects
HolmesRevanche.avi
HolmesRevanche.srt
HolmesRevanche.doc
HolmesRevanche.mp3

We can expect 19th century formal English dubbed into French to be rather easy to follw, and it is the case here. A nice Level-1
Marnie.avi
Marnie.srt
Marnie.doc
Marnie.mp3

Level-1 and a corker of a film. What more could one want ?
GiseleHalimi.avi
GiseleHalimi.srt
GiseleHalimi.doc
GiseleHalimi.mp3

The voice over is Level-1, and Madame Halimi, like all French advocates, speaks very clearly
TopModels.avi
TopModels.srt
TopModels.doc
TopModels.mp3

A triumphant level-1, intellectually as well as linguistically.
TheGame.avi
TheGame.srt
TheGame.doc
TheGame.mp3

I think we'll make this a level-1 film - not as clear as a documentary, but a good entry-level American film

PeauD'Ane.avi
PeauD'Ane.srt
PeauD'Ane.doc
PeauD'Ane.mp3

The formal, literary register gives us a nice change, and it makes a good Level-1.

AvocatsEtAssociés.avi
AvocatsEtAssociés.srt
AvocatsEtAssociés.doc
AvocatsEtAssociés.mp3

I love the friend of the accused who is supposed to have a strong working-class accent. In reality we wouldn't understand one word she says.  But you can see the actress struggling to pronounce each word clearly...  Level-1

V.avi
V.srt
V.doc
V.mp3

Apart from the scene with the young mother who has had nasty things done to her by the aliens, it's all pretty clear diction.

LifePiedsSurTerre.avi
LifePiedsSurTerre.srt
LifePiedsSurTerre.doc
LifePiedsSurTerre.mp3
We shouldn't be too dismissive of this type of programme. The dubbing is very clear, but the dialogue is fast-paced and that always makes a good exercise for the ear.
CommentMoutarde.avi
CommentMoutarde.srt
CommentMoutarde.doc
CommentMoutarde.mp3
This one is relatively easy. There is always, however, some vocabulary which is unfamiliar and tests the ear.

Voltaire.avi
Voltaire.srt
Voltaire.doc
Voltaire.mp3

It's a level-1, but the vocabulary tests the ear a bit, as does the conversation between the two art lovers.  It took me ages to work out who the painter was.

BirkinSerge.avi
BirkinSerge.srt
BirkinSerge.doc
BirkinSerge.mp3

Just the occasional difficulty in this piece, but mostly level-1.
UnDosTres.avi
UnDosTres.srt
UnDosTres.doc
UnDosTres.mp3
My theory is that you get this sort of crystal clear dubbing when the dubbing actors haven't the time to do any more than read the words and get the lip-sync approximately right. But it means that French TV is full of dubbed series that are ideal for training the ear.
A solid Level-1
PoliceAcademy.avi
PoliceAcademy.srt
PoliceAcademy.doc
PoliceAcademy.mp3
You might expect this to be difficult, but in fact the need to get the humour across encourages the actors to speak rather carefully - it's the same with the original.
AffaireBeaudry.avi
AffaireBeaudry.srt
AffaireBeaudry.doc
AffaireBeaudry.mp3
The voices here are of lawyers and politely-spoken witnesses, so not at all difficult.  But the Canadian accent introduces different vowel sounds to which we have to accustom the ear.
CrimeOxford.avi
CrimeOxford.srt
CrimeOxford.doc
CrimeOxford.mp3
It's a straight level-1, this.  The voices of the policeman, the philosopher, the student, are all standard and educated.
Experts.avi
Experts.srt
Experts.doc
Experts.mp3
I'm always fascinated by how well the French dubbing actors capture the quality of the English and especially the American voice. It's worth comparing the John Hurt dubbing from Crimes à Oxford.  Both Level-1, but rather different.
CommentTrainsMiniatures.avi
CommentTrainsMiniatures.srt
CommentTrainsMiniatures.doc
CommentTrainsMiniatures.mp3
As always, clear diction, but the opportunity to recognise some new vocabulary by the sound rather than by the written word.

MichèleCotta.avi
MichèleCotta.srt
MichèleCotta.doc
MichèleCotta.mp3

It's a level-1 as far as the voice over is concerned, but a bit harder when Mme Cotta starts to murmur her commentary on the Socialist Party Convention

20HMariage_1.avi
20HMariage_1.srt
20HMariage_1.doc
20HMariage_1.mp3

Social rather than linguistic interest here.

DRARhone.avi
DRARhone.srt
DRARhone.doc
DRARhone.mp3

Voices don't come any clearer than that of the presenter Louis Laforge.  The voice of the expert being interviewed is much more relaxed and a little accented.
EleventhHour.avi
EleventhHour.srt
EleventhHour.doc
EleventhHour.mp3
This is good traditional level-1 stuff, thanks to the clear dubbing.
CommentBilles.avi
CommentBilles.srt
CommentBilles.doc
CommentBilles.mp3

Some specialised vocabulary here, as always in this series

LeRègneDuFeu.avi
LeRègneDuFeu.srt
LeRègneDuFeu.doc
LeRègneDuFeu.mp3

Straightforward voices. This is a  level-1 film - which means a bit harder than a documentary, but as films go, not bad.

DRAPalaisRois.avi
DRAPalaisRois.srt
DRAPalaisRois.doc
DRAPalaisRois.mp3

The famous Des racines et des ailes voice-over is just about as clear as you can get without seeing the words on paper. The expert - as always - is just a little harder though

Spécialistes.avi
Spécialistes.srt
Spécialistes.txt
Spécialistes.mp3
I was surprised that the dialogue wasn't faster, and therefore more difficult - one has the impression that the Italians speak quickly. It doesn't seem to be the case.
Dombais.avi
Dombais.srt
Dombais.txt
Dombais.mp3
Very unusual to have a French film at level-1. There are a few difficult moments, but mostly it's fairly clear.
RuyBlas.avi
RuyBlas.srt
RuyBlas.txt
RuyBlas.mp3
Historical fiction, clear enunciation. It's a joy to have this as a Level-1.
TroisGlorieuses.avi
TroisGlorieuses.srt
TroisGlorieuses.txt
TroisGlorieuses.mp3
It's a level-1, but the voices of these great old ladies are not always very easy to follow...
Numb3rs.avi
Numb3rs.srt
Numb3rs.txt
Numb3rs.mp3
It's a straight-forward level-1, apart from the irritating moment at the start that I couldn't pick up. See if you can do better.
E=M6_20ans.avi
E=M6_20ans.srt
E=M6_20ans.txt
E=M6_20ans.mp3
As always, a good mixture of voice-over and live interviews, in setting which often offer background noise.
