No problems here. The diction of the French voice-over is very clear

Another Level-1. Turn the subtitles off !
Carla.avi
Carla.srt
Carla.doc
Carla.mp3

I like to start a new month with a level-1, although Carla's voice, although educated and precise, occasionally dips below the threshold of straightforward comprehension
Toqués du chocolat.avi
Toqués du chocolat.srt
Toqués du chocolat.doc
Toqués du chocolat.mp3

I am always glad to find voices recorded 'in the street' - or even in the Amazonian rain forest, who speak quickly but quite clearly. It is certainly true of this chocolatier
DRAMaroc.avi
DRAMaroc.srt
DRAMaroc.doc
DRAMaroc.mp3

The voice over here is slightly more trendy than usual, so perhaps a little harder to follow. And Laila the architect speaks clearly, but volubly, and she offers some difficult moments for comprehension. I know I got quite a few words wrong. See if you can identify my mistakes and correct them.

The historian speaking is an excellent example of the problem we have following the speech of 'the man in the steet'. Background noise, specialised vocabulary (the passage about the mills !) I'm going to call this a Level'3

SiècleSport.doc
SiècleSport.mp3

I'm following my habit of starting a new month with a Level-1 extract. It's very subjective of course, but here we have a reasonably-paced voice-over with very little in the way of unusual vocabulary
Dieulefit.avi
Dieulefit.srt
Dieulefit.doc
Dieulefit.mp3

It's a good level-2, because of the informality and rapidity of the voices, especially that of the niece of Jeanne Barnier
DRAParis.avi
DRAParis.srt
DRAParis.doc
DRAParis.mp3

We'll call this a level-1 because of the voice-over, but in fact when the senior fireman speaks, it can be quite difficult to follow. One understands the context, of course.

I would say that this extract defines the entry level for this site. It is a level-1, the voice-over is particularly clear. I was amused by the Canadian President Lester Pearson, whose French diction is so poor that they provided subtitles in French !
Kennedys.avi
Kennedys.srt
Kennedys.doc
Kennedys.mp3

This is not quite the same as an ordinary documentary voice-over. It is literary, emotional, intimate. Not hard, but one has to listen carefully. A good level-2 exercise.

No problem following this - Level-1. I love this transatlantic French accent the dubbing actors adopt when speaking of American subjects
Operette.avi
Operette.srt
Operette.doc
Operette.mp3

The old gentleman who speaks about operetta is far from easy to follow, while the journalist Jean-François Kahn is excitable. They merit a Level-2, I think
GiseleHalimi.avi
GiseleHalimi.srt
GiseleHalimi.doc
GiseleHalimi.mp3

The voice over is Level-1, and Madame Halimi, like all French advocates, speaks very clearly

It's a level-1, but the vocabulary tests the ear a bit, as does the conversation between the two art lovers.  It took me ages to work out who the painter was.

Just the occasional difficulty in this piece, but mostly level-1.
FemmesAuVolant.avi
FemmesAuVolant.srt
FemmesAuVolant.doc
FemmesAuVolant.mp3
This extract illustrates a very common difficulty - the voice over is as clear as one would expect - but the discussion between the lads at the bar is far from easy.  But I liked   'Les statistiques...c'est les femmes qui ont moins d'accidents.  Mais putain qu'elles en provoquent...'
DoubleVie.avi
DoubleVie.srt
DoubleVie.doc
DoubleVie.mp3
The voice over is of that irritating type, common also on British TV, which speaks to you in an excited fashion as if you're a child.  The policeman is from Marseille, so we can enjoy his accent. No you don't get to see him take his clothes off.

Marie-Claire's accent tests the ear, but it's not why - obviously - I'm posting the clip
DRA_Eau.avi

DRA_Eau.mp3
The voice over of these programmes is as clear as words on the page. However, names of places always give me difficulty - the canal is the Loing ? Email me if you don't agree. And of course the voices of the folks on the boat can occasionally be indistinct

MichèleCotta.avi
MichèleCotta.srt

It's a level-1 as far as the voice over is concerned, but a bit harder when Mme Cotta starts to murmur her commentary on the Socialist Party Convention

DRARhone.avi
DRARhone.srt
DRARhone.doc

Voices don't come any clearer than that of the presenter Louis Laforge.  The voice of the expert being interviewed is much more relaxed and a little accented.
BrassensFilm.avi
BrassensFilm.srt
BrassensFilm.doc
BrassensFilm.mp3
The mix of voices, of historic film, and of course the songs, make this a pretty stiff exercise. Level -3
MauricePapon.avi

Documentary with a straightforward voice over. But the old men's voices make it a level-2

DRAPalaisRois.avi
DRAPalaisRois.srt
DRAPalaisRois.doc
DRAPalaisRois.mp3

The famous Des racines et des ailes voice-over is just about as clear as you can get without seeing the words on paper. The expert - as always - is just a little harder though

TroisGlorieuses.avi
TroisGlorieuses.srt
TroisGlorieuses.txt
TroisGlorieuses.mp3
It's a level-1, but the voices of these great old ladies are not always very easy to follow...
